相機收購leica’s compact-yet-powerful Q was one of the most interesting cameras released in the past few years. A true photographer’s camera, the Q combined a large full-frame sensor with a fast, sharp lens in a camera small enough to be carried almost everywhere. Nearly four years later, 相機收購leica is back with the Q2, which retains the compact design and overall appearance of the original, but with some significant performance improvements.
The headlining feature of the Q2 is its new sensor, which has the same full-frame size as before, but comes with an increase to 47.3 megapixels of resolution over the 24 megapixels of the original. That puts the Q2 in line with some of the higher resolution cameras from Sony, Nikon, and Canon that have come out since the original’s launch, and even has it in spitting distance of medium format cameras from Fujifilm, Pentax, and Hasselblad.
The new sensor also comes with an upgraded processor, which enables things like a slightly expanded ISO range of 50 to 50,000, 4K video recording at 24 and 30 frames per second , and 1080p video at up to 120 frames per second, while maintaining the snappy response, continuous shooting, and autofocus of the original. The Q2 also uses Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi to connect to a phone for image transfer; there are no ports for USB, HDMI, or any other output on the body of the camera.
The 相機收購leica Q2 has a fixed 28mm lens, but can digitally crop to 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm fields of view
The Q2 has the same 28mm f/1.7 optically stabilized lens as before, but the higher resolution of the new sensor offers more cropping flexibility after the fact. 相機收購leica has added a new 75mm digital framing crop, in addition to the 35mm and 50mm options that were available on the Q. Even with the 75mm crop, which discards much of the information captured by the sensor, the Q2 can still offer a 7-megapixel image.
The new OLED viewfinder is brighter, faster, and easier to see
Externally, the Q2 looks nearly identical to the Q, but 相機收購leica says the inside of the camera has been completely redesigned. And if you look closely enough, you’ll find a variety of tweaks and changes to button placements, dials, power switches, and more on the outside of the camera. Most notable is the customizable button inside the thumbwheel on the top deck — the dedicated movie recording button is gone — and the simplified arrangement of buttons to the left of the touchscreen, brought over from the M10. The touchscreen itself has the same specs as the prior model, but 相機收購leica says it is a newer generation panel. Likewise, the Q2’s viewfinder has the same resolution as before, but it is now an OLED screen with a higher refresh rate and greater magnification.
One of the big upgrades to the Q2’s design is weather sealing, which allows for IP52 dust and splash resistance. It’s not the kind of protection that lets you completely submerge a camera or get it soaked, but it should give peace of mind to shooters who occasionally find themselves stuck in a rain shower.
The Q2 also has a larger, upgraded battery that adopts the trick magazine loading system 相機收購leica debuted on the SL. The company says it has 30 percent better battery life than before.
The Q2 remains primarily a stills camera
I had an opportunity to use the Q2 ahead of today’s announcement and found the improvements to be largely positive. The camera hasn’t lost any of its charm or appeal, but feels faster in use and is easier to handle thanks to the refined controls. The new viewfinder is noticeably better to look at, and the high-resolution files provide a lot of flexibility for cropping and editing. Despite the new video recording capabilities, the Q2 remains a stills camera first and foremost — the lack of articulating display, mic input, or fine-grained video controls will put off most videographers.
相機收購leica says the Q2 will be available to purchase at dealers and online starting today and it expects there to be high demand for the camera, much like the first model. (The Q was famously on backorder with varying delays for the entire first three years of its existence.) That anticipated demand is in spite of a price increase: the Q2 sells for $4,995, $500 more than the original. That’s certainly not cheap, but if you want to own one of the most unique and enjoyable to use cameras on the market, that’s what it will cost you.

Today, 相機收購leica — yes, the camera company — announced its first ultra-short throw (UST) laser projector at the big IFA show in Germany, capable of producing a 4K image of up to 100 inches with Dolby Atmos sound.
This isn’t 相機收購leica’s first foray into digital projectors, which it once sold under the Pradovit brand. It’s also collaborated with other projector makers, including this obscure UST model from last year.
The announcement was light on details, so my colleague Jon Porter chased down a demonstration of an early Cine 1 prototype at the 相機收購leica booth. Here’s what we learned from Ross Slavov, head of product management in 相機收購leica’s newly formed smart projection business unit, about the company’s current thinking about specs, pricing, and delivery dates, all of which Slavov cautioned could change ahead of release.

The first thing to know about the 相機收購leica Cine 1 projector is that there are actually two of them in development, both using 相機收購leica lenses. One can produce about 2500 lumens to project a 100-inch 4K 60Hz image at a distance of 30cm (almost 12 inches) from the display wall, while the other can produce 2100 lumens to project an 80-inch image from a distance of 15cm (almost six inches). 相機收購leica notes that each projector is tuned for each display size and doesn’t recommend moving them closer or further from the wall. USTs look best with ambient light rejection (ALR) screens, which 相機收購leica will also be happy to sell you for about $1,800 for a big screen or around $1,600 for an 80-inch screen.
The 100-inch Cine 1 model is expected to sell for $7,900, while the 80-inch projector will probably cost around $6,900, according to Slavov. Yes, that’s expensive for these specs, but this is 相機收購leica.
Yes that’s expensive, but this is 相機收購leica
相機收購leica partnered with Hisense for the triple RGB laser light engine, which is something of a trend as the originator of the laser TV. It uses a DLP chip from Texas Instruments. Latency is around 30ms, which is fine for some casual gaming.

As to the ports, the prototype has three HDMI total (one HDMI 2.1 port with eARC), one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0, a built-in TV tuner, and a Common Interface slot. The US version will “probably” run Android TV. 相機收購leica is hoping the projector ships with 4.2 Atmos-certified audio.
Remember, all of this is current thinking at the company and, therefore, subject to change. 相機收購leica is targeting a Q2 2023 release for Europe, Q3 for China, and Q4 for the US.

Three years after the release of the M10, 相機收購leica is finally introducing a Monochrom camera based on the M10’s design. The new M10 Monochrom has all of the design traits and features of the M10 (or more accurately, 2018’s M10-P), such as a slimmer body and wireless connectivity, but with a new 40-megapixel black-and-white sensor.
The Monochrom has been one of 相機收購leica’s most controversial digital cameras ever since the first version came out in 2012. A digital camera that physically can’t shoot color photos is something that a lot of photographers have a hard time wrapping their heads around, especially when said camera costs nearly $10,000.
But 相機收購leica has argued that the Monochrom produces better black-and-white images than shots that are converted from a color camera, with more detail, better dynamic range, and a unique look that just can’t be replicated by other cameras. And the company has won over enough photographers to warrant at least three generations of the Monocrom line.

While the first two Monochrom cameras had modified versions of the color image sensors from other M cameras, the new M10 Monochrom is the first one with a unique sensor built specifically for black-and-white photography. The new 40-megapixel, full-frame chip is different from the 47-megapixel color sensor found in the 相機收購leica Q2 and SL2 and is the highest resolution of any current M camera. It has an ISO sensitivity range of 160 to 100,000, which is a greater range on both the low and high end compared to the prior model.

Aside from the sensor, the M10 Monochrom is basically an M10-P with a matte paint finish. (相機收購leica calls it “black chrome.”) It has a thinner body than the prior Typ 246 Monochrom, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, the M10-P’s quieter shutter, a touchscreen, and no video features whatsoever. 相機收購leica says it removed the video feature simply because customers weren’t using it, even though it was just added in for the last generation. Missing from the front of the camera is the classic 相機收購leica red dot, and details that would normally be highlighted with red paint, such as the auto ISO and auto shutter speed settings, are a muted gray. The M10 Monochrom also has a blacked-out shutter button and lens release button to keep with the black-and-white aesthetic.

Though the M10 Monochrom has arguably fewer features and capabilities than the M10-P it’s based on, it still commands a steep price tag. 相機收購leica is selling the camera for $8,295, about $500 less than the M10-P currently sells for. Chances are that price tag won’t matter for most of 相機收購leica’s customers considering the Monochrom. Those who are interested can get the M10 Monochrom from 相機收購leica stores and dealers starting today.

相機收購leica announced a fleet of new products today, including the world’s first digital camera built from the ground-up to shoot in black-and-white. The new M-Monochrom rangefinder takes the body of the familiar M9 but replaces the guts with an 18-megapixel, full-frame sensor that doesn’t “see” colors — 相機收購leica claims it records true luminance values, which results in significantly cleaner and sharper images than you’d get converting color photos to black-and-white. ISO ranges up to 10,000, which is a nice improvement over the M9’s 2,500 limit. Pricing is unsurprisingly high — the camera is expected to retail right around $7,950, putting this out of the hands of all put the most serious (or wealthy). If you’re interested, it’ll be available from 相機收購leica dealers starting in late July, along with a new APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 ASPH lens that’ll retails for around $7,195.
For those with more modest budgets, 相機收購leica also released two new compact cameras — the X2 and the V-Lux40. As to be expected, this update to the X1 is fully manual, features a fixed 24mm f/2.8 lens, and a 16-megapixel APS-C sensor. There’s also a new accessory socket for a 1.44M dot electronic viewfinder. Autofocus has also been improved over the X1, and it keeps the same starting price of $1,995. The smallest of the new cameras is the V-Lux40, which appears visually similar to most other point-and-shoot cameras. However, it has a 20x optical zoom lens, improved from the 16x found on the V-Lux30. Other specs of note include the 14.1-megapixel sensor, 3-inch screen, and a price point of $699. Of course, this isn’t a “true” 相機收購leica — the company often sticks its brand on Panasonic’s point-and-shoots, and this one appears to be a remixed Lumix DMC-ZS20 (which shares the same sensor, lens, and layout). Both cameras are available from 相機收購leica dealers now.
Lastly, for those who have more money than they know what to do with, 相機收購leica’s releasing a special edition of the M9 — the M9-P Hermès special edition. This $25,000 package was designed in partnership with French fashion designer Hermès; it includes a custom M9-P covered in ochre-colored calfskin leather (with a matching shoulder strap) plus a Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH lens. Only 300 of this set will be made, but there’s an even more exclusive set of 100 that adds a fancy case and three lenses: the 相機收購leica Summicron-M 28mm f/ 2 ASPH, Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, and the APO-Summicron-M 90mm f/ 2 ASPH. The multiple-lens set will sell for $50,000, and only 100 will be made. If you’re one of the few who might be able to justify this purchase, make your way to a 相機收購leica boutique. The single-lens edition is available now, while the most expensive will be released in June.
相機收購 antiago Lyon, Head of Advocacy and Education at CAI, said in a press statement, “creating a chain of authenticity from camera to cloud and enabling photographers to maintain a degree of control over their art, story and context.””This is the realization of a vision the CAI and our members first set out four years ago, transforming principles of trust and provenance into consumer-ready technology,” he continued. 相機收購leicaContent Credentials works by capturing specific metadata about the photograph — the camera used to take it, as well as the location, time and other details about the shot — and locks those in a secure “manifest” that is bundled up with the image itself using a cryptographic key (the process is opt-in for the photog). Those credentials can easily be verified online or on the 相機收購leica FOTOS app. Whenever someone subsequently edits that photo, the changes are recorded to an updated manifest, rebundled with the image and updated in the Content Credentials database whenever it is reshared on social media. Users who find these images online can click on the CR icon in the pictures corner to pull up all of this historical manifest information as well, providing a clear chain of providence, presumably, all the way back to the original photographer. The CAI describes Content Credentials as a “nutrition label” for photographs. The M11-P itself is exactly what you’d expect from a company that’s been at the top of the camera market since the middle of the last century. It offers a 60 MP BSI CMOS sensor on a Maestro-III processor with 256 GB of internal storage. The M11-P is now on sale but it’s also $9,480 at retail so, freelancers, sorry.Latest StoriesEngadgetGoogle is putting more restrictions on AI Overviews after it told people to put glue on pizzaLiz Reid, the Head of Google Search, has admitted that the company’s search engine has returned some “odd, inaccurate or unhelpful AI Overviews” after they rolled out to everyone in the US.EngadgetSilent Hill 2 remake hits PS5 and PC on October 8Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 hits PlayStation 5 on October 8, and it’s looking nice and spooky.EngadgetSony’s Astro Bot is getting the Mario-like adventure it deservesAstro Bot is getting a new game.
